The Community
With a history dating back to the 1880’s, it is not surprising Beechmont has a very strong sense of community. It is like living in a country town, people genuinely care about each other and the place they live. The community hall is situated between Lower Beechmont and Beechmont and is the venue for regular family friendly events. Our fantastic school tends to be the focal point of community activity. Beechmont Mountain Sales is just one of the local businesses that happily support community initiatives.
The Future
Beechmont is an area in transition. At years end, only three of the original dairy farms will remain in operation, the land is now too valuable to be used as farming land. ‘The Ridge on Binna Burra’ points to the future as a $40 million dollar eco-development taking advantage of the natural beauty of the mountain, proximity to Lamington National Park and easy access to both Brisbane and the Gold Coast. As much of the mountain is regarded as the catchment area for the Hinze Dam, developments of house size blocks is unlikely. Instead the gradual release of acreage blocks will allow Beechmont to grow into perhaps the Hinterland’s premier residential location.
