The Ridge on Binna Burra is a community of 66 rainforest cabins, holiday homes and apartments perched on the Binna Burra escarpment in south east Queensland. The Ridge overlooks and borders World Heritage Listed Lamington National Park, one of Australia's most precious natural jewels.

The Ridge on Binna Burra is an educational eco-village - a mountain top community which is also the home of The Ethos Centre, Australia's first holistic education retreat and wellness centre.

The Ridge on Binna Burra community embodies sustainability, not only in its physical design, but through its thoughtful, values-based integration of:

  • A holistic education retreat centre offering workshops, restorative retreats and transformative learning programs ("The Ethos Centre" - managed by HumanKind Pty Ltd.)
  • An educational foundation committed to education for sustainability and protection of the local natural environment; ("The Ethos Foundation"); and
  • A vibrant local community whose members place a high value on environmental conservation, combined with economic and social sustainability.

Sustainability - ecological, economic, personal, social and cultural - features throughout the village community, from the built environment, gardens and grounds and the supporting infrastructure through to the vibrant and diverse range of learning programs and restorative activities on offer.

The development also aims to inspire the wider Australian community with innovative implementation of the latest technologies and practices in sustainable design, construction and living.

At the heart of the village is the Ethos Centre, Australia's first holistic educational eco-village, a vibrant hub of education and learning, conversation and conviviality, and creativity and life-giving activity. Over 150 short courses and retreat programs will be run at the Ethos Centre by the finest teachers in Australia. Owners of property at the Ridge on Binna Burra will have access to all community facilities, organic and permaculture gardens, education programs, restorative activities and the 187 acres (75.7 hectares) of subtropical rainforest bordering Lamington National Park held by the Ridge community in perpetuity under a Queensland Government Voluntary Conservation Agreement.
